Christmas at the Alaskan Houdeks

We hope you all had a wonderful and merry Christmas! We definitely had a white and cold one. (Although it was above zero so that it a plus). It was a relaxing, no pressure day. We spent it playing with our new "toys", watching movies, cutting hair, going out with the four wheeler and dog and of course eating. I must say I am particularly proud of the pie that I made this year. Here is a picture and yes it tasted even better than it looks. YUM YUM!

ERIC'S TOY

One of the toys Eric got was a remote control helicopter. He had fun trying to get it to fly without spinning. By the end of the day he was pretty good.

MY TOY

I got a new jewelry chest. I am so excited to finally have a place for all my necklaces besides zip lock bags.

STYLING IN LEOPARD PRINT

This year I decided to make us matching pajama pants. They are made out of leopard print fleece. They are so warm and soft.

To Blog or not to Blog

Well, after much conversing and pondering (ok, not that much conversing and pondering) we decided to create a blog. We are thousands of miles away from family and this will be a fun way to share our way of life up here in cold, COLD Alaska. I don't know how often we will update (as our lives are not as fun filled as Josh and Melanie's) but we will try to keep you up to date on the strange things that happen in Alaska.

Right now the weather is just nice. It's only gets below zero in town. At our house it stays between zero and 20 degrees. I'm sure it is too good to last and will soon be dropping down to the unmentionable temperatures. Bella (our black lab)has been sleeping outside so far but due a number of wolf packs attacking and eating dogs in our area, she will be sleeping in our arctic entry and will only be outside when we are home.

Anyways, not a lot to say now but we will update sometime fairly soon. Talk to you then!
